Rancho Monte Nido is a secluded place of quiet beauty and peaceful solitude for creative inspiration, and physical, emotional and spiritual renewal.

As artists ourselves, we are fulfilling our dream to offer a place for writers, musicians, artists, and other creative types to come and work in an inspiring, serene setting. Or, to take a break from work.......and just spend some quiet time with God, rest and get refreshed and refueled.

The ranch is also a place of privacy and seclusion for business executives and government leaders to retreat for important decision-making, team building, training sessions, or meetings.

Rancho Monte Nido, ‘Mountain Nest Ranch’, is a special place...
We believe it is a place where dreams are conceived, projects are created, and decisions are made that will have a positive influence on the world.

We look forward to seeing you at the ranch.

"...I will allure her, and will bring her into the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her." Hosea 2:14

Just 70 miles north of Los Angeles, and bordered by the Angeles National Forest, Rancho Monte Nido has a commanding view of the western end of the scenic Antelope Valley and the Tehachapi Mountains, and overlooks the historic Tejon Ranch, the largest ranch in California. Huge pine trees stand alongside some of the largest, most ancient oak trees in the world.
At 4,000 feet elevation Rancho Monte Nido enjoys the unique convergence of mountain, foothill, and high desert terrain in all of their grandeur. Four seasons provide their own atmosphere and beauty: colorful Fall foliage, occasional Winter snow, Spring wildflowers, and dry Summer heat.

Rancho MonteNido has a rich history and carries a powerful legacy. The ranch was established in 1921 by Mr. Franklin W. Robinson, a prominent figure in the early development of Long Beach. His father, John Wesley Robinson, had emigrated to California from Missouri in a covered wagon. The Robinson family departed from St. Joseph, Missouri, on April 29, 1859, when John was four years old, and arrived in Sacramento on August 29, 1859. John was a member of the first graduating class of the University of Southern California in 1883, and later became a Methodist circuit rider throughout California and the Territory of Arizona, establishing several churches.

Dr. F.W. (Robbie) Robinson, Jr., wrote this about his grandfather, "this dynamic preacher was used to convert many frontier people in mining camps and farming communities, and on his first visit to Robinson Canyon Ranch in the early 20's prayed over the ranch property, as God told him it would be set apart for the work of 'His kingdom'."

In 1991 Larry and Nancy visited the Robinson Canyon Ranch for the first time and fell in love with it. In 1997, they were able to fulfill their dream and purchase the ranch from Dr. Robbie and Joan Robinson, and their son Tri and Nancy Robinson.

Larry and Nancy are committed to preserving its rich history and legacy, and to fulfilling the purpose for which the ranch was "set apart" so long ago. They have changed the name to Rancho Monte Nido, "mountain nest", and renovated the buildings' interiors as a means of contributing some of their own personality and vision to the property, but Rancho Monte Nido will continue to be a place of peace and refreshment, a place where dreams will be conceived, and creativity will flourish.
